Check out all these immediate opportunities below to get in on the literacy action! Each project is estimated to take 2-4 hours total and can be done on your own schedule. Great feel-good opportunity to make a positive difference for kids. Lots of context & background information available from Jean Johnson and/or Hugh Pruitt.
- Reach Out & Read MN - Coordinate with matching grant person to make a donation on behalf of COL, coordinate a book sorting in late February. This one is HOT and we’d like to get someone to adopt it as soon as possible so that we can get our $2K matched right away.
- Way to Grow - Coordinate book purchase with agency & bookstore. Contact our ongoing partner to determine their needs, provide the funding we’ve already budgeted. Explore opportunities for club engagement.
- Reading Partners - Coordinate with our bookstore partner to purchase diverse books identified by the organization & ensure they’re delivered. Possibly arrange participation in year-end graduation. We have an ongoing relationship with the organization & bookstore.
- Joyce Preschool - Get a list of desired titles from the Preschool, order & deliver books to the school for the kids. Receive lots of hugs.
- New Horizon - Coordinate a family book giveaway. Contact the organization to learn when their upcoming Family Night will be & what kind of books they’d like. Use/modify existing book list, order books, pick up from bookstore & encourage club members to attend Family Night to help families pick out books.
