The Chemistry of Innovation, A Career, A Hobby and A Passion

Emily Meyering will guide us through her journeys both working for and building her own startup companies in the Twin Cities. Focusing on unmet needs analyses, she will talk about the contagious ideation that comes with surrounding oneself with others who share the same goal of innovating with an impact. Additionally, she will discuss startup culture and how it can work to change mindsets of companies small to large.

Ms. Meyering is an experienced medical device and pharmaceuticals leader with over 15 years of experience designing products. Emily is very passionate about innovation and has 17 issued U.S. patents. She is currently the Vice President of Research & Development at SpineThera, Inc. – a local pharmaceutical startup in clinical trials for a novel back pain drug. Additionally, Emily is the co-founder of ArteMedics, a veterinary medical device startup that brings human medical device technology to veterinarians and pet owners. Under her consulting LLC, Ms. Meyering assists companies with formulation development for devices and cosmetics. Previously, Emily has led technical teams as a Principal Research Scientist at both Minnetronix and American Medical Systems. Prior experience includes positions as a Senior Scientist at SurModics and Associate Scientist at Medtronic. She has an M.S. Organic Chemistry from the University of California - San Diego and a B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of St. Thomas.
